MY TEACHING EXPERIENCE
King’s College School Wimbledon (3 years) where I trained and got my Qualified Teacher Status. I taught Latin and Greek, ages 13 to 18 (IB and A Level) and was supervisor of IB Extended Essays and responsible for university applications in Classics. I co-founded and ran the Beginners Greek Outreach Project and supervised the Beginners Latin Outreach Project.
North London Collegiate (a year’s maternity cover) where I taught students between the ages of 11 to 18 (IB, A Level and Pre-U) in Latin, Greek, Classical Civilisation.
Highgate School (6 years) where I taught students between the ages of 11 and 18 in Latin, Greek, Classical Civilisation. I also taught sixth form History of Art. I ran a Creative Writing Club for the lower school years that was itself a mentoring space where pupils – through means of a story – could give voice to a struggle and we could discuss characters’ behaviours & aspirations. I supervised the first Warhammer Club (having the lunchtime availability rather than game experience!) where I witnessed, on quite a profound level, the value of a space for young people to feel heard and seen. I co-founded the Random Acts of Kindness Society where again I saw young people be themselves with joyful abandonment.
I have worked with young people 1-1 on and off for twelve years as an academic tutor. Many of those sessions doubled up as mentoring.
